“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.”_Buddha
(On a humorous note, I want to share my brother’s paraphrased rendition of the above quote: ”Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die, and if we did die, at least we have no more worries; so, let us all be thankful.” _Barry Wayne Crowley Sr.)

When observant Jews wake up in the morning, the first prayer they are supposed to say is Modeh Ani, ‘I give thanks’.
I enjoyed your brother’s rendition. Always good to look on the bright side!

Leora,
I enjoyed reading another the first prayer of observant Jews. There are so many beautiful truths and observations in all religions. It the common thread that weaves them all together, I think.
